  Temple (1887), Wheeler (1924), and Hudson (1889) say he was a descendant of John of Peterbourough, Northampton, England. There has been speculation that he was from London, and married his wife at All Hallows in the Wall, London 29 January 1563. This is clearly in error owing to chronology.
