  This date is doubtful. It is not found in the Newbury vital records, and John was fined in 1646 for paying too much attention to a married woman. We might assume he was single at this time.

  Walter Davis could not find proof that her name was Mary. He did not that a John Emorye and an Alice Grantam were married 26 June 1620 at Whiteparish, Wiltshire, England which is about eight miles from Romsey. Could Alice have been Mary?
