    Text Last Rites Held For Late Alvin R. Oakes Services for Alvin R. Oakes, 71, Watsontown RD 2, retired mail carrier and widely known resident of Delaware Township, who died in Virginia where he was stricken while on a trip, were held Satur-7 day at 2 p.m. at the Paul S. Grittner funeral home at Turbotville.

    The services were largely attended by relatives and friends and the floral tributes were many and beautiful. Many friends called Saturday from 12 noon to 2 p.m. at the funeral home to pay final tribute. Officiating at the servic-2 es were his pastor, Rev. John L. Herbster, of St. John's United Church of Christ at McEwensville, where he had been an active member. Interment was in McEwensville cemetery.

    Pallbearers were Postmaster Paul C. Klapp, C. Jay Muffly, Boyd E. Anspach, of Watsontown; Dr. Paul R. Seibert, of Muncy; Clarence Eschbach and William Bower, McEwensville.
